The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), are claiming that some Chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), are reaching out to the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, thein anticipation that the former Vice President would win the 2019 Presidential election, slated for Saturday.
According to sources from PDP camp, the APC Chiefs have been holding secret meetings with the PDP Presidential Candidate, with a view of working out “exit deals”.
“Atiku has the momentum now, and the wise thing to do politically, is to consider options, after all, in politics there is no permanent friend or permanent enemy”, one of the sources revealed.
Among those reaching out to the Atiku camp, according to the sources who preferred to be anonymous, are two Senior Ministers in the APC-led Federal Government, and a senior member of the party.
These three APC henchmen, believe that the best option left for them, is to start early to work out a contingency plan, which if concretised, may see them work secretly to deliver Atiku, come Saturday, February 16.
There are also talks of a famous Lagos Politician, considering the option of working with the PDP Presidential Candidate, according to the sources.
There have been rumours that Atiku has gotten the backing of Western countries, in his quest to be Nigeria’s new Leader.
In the last few weeks, the PDP Presidential Candidate has continued to surge far ahead, over incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, in both internal and foreign polls.
This may have caused panic in the camp of the ruling party, and many attempting to jump ship through the back door, before the elections.
On Monday, February 11, a New York-based Financial Analysts, Citigroup, predicted that Nigeria’s stock market may rally, if President Muhammadu Buhari loses this weekend’s election.
The reported posted on Bloomberg, noted that the nation’s stock market will recover, ending a run that has seen it fall more than any other in the world in dollar terms, since Buhari came to Office, in May 2015.
Similarly, the Financial Times of London, recently indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari is battling perception of frailty, as Nigeria prepares for the 2019 general elections.
The London-based international newspaper, in an article published on its website, on Saturday, February 9, said that there are concerns, if Buhari is physically or mentally up, to running Nigeria for another four years.
The Financial Times article was published days after another British media outfit, the BBC, described Atiku as Nigeria’s political operator, with the Midas touch.
Meanwhile, a prediction by Williams and Associates, revealed that Atiku will win the election.
The prediction is the result of a field work conducted by the US-based pollster, which was posted on its website, on Monday, February 4.
The pollster had in a similar field work, in 2015, accurately predicted the defeat of former President, Goodluck Jonathan, in the last Presidential election.
