Empowerment: Sen. Karimi disburses N100 million to 50 women cooperative groups in Kogi

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Sen. Sunday Steve Karimi, has disbursed N100 million to 50 women cooperative societies under his empowerment scheme for his constituents.

The senator’s wife, Mrs Stellamari Karimi, who confirmed the disbursement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lokoja, said the gesture was a promised fulfilled.

She recalled that her husband had in fortnight ago, pledged to empower women through cooperative groups across the three federal constituencies of Kogi west senatorial district.

Mrs Karimi noted that a training programme was recently conducted for at least 550 women under the “Senator Sunday Karimi Women Cooperative Societies Empowerment Scheme”.

“It will be recalled that some some weeks ago, Senator Karimi made pledge to empower women through coopertive groups.

“A training programme was recently conducted for the women in each of the three federal constituencies in the senatorial district.

“This week a sum of N100 million has been paid to the cooperative group accounts,” she said.

Karimi’s wife, therefore advised the women beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the fund to better their wellbeing as well as grow their cooperatives for the benefit of other members.

“I encourage the women to grow the funds and their cooperative groups, and not just see it as free money,” she advised.

She pledged her husband’s commitment to continue to make more of such fund available to more cooperative societies as soon as possible.

NAN reports that Sen. Karimi had also in July 2024, launched a Registration portal of N100 million bursary award for students from Kogi west in tertiary institutions across the country.

A total of 1000 students studying in various public tertiary institutions across the country, who are indigene of Kogi west senatorial district will benefit from the N100 million bursary award for 2024.

The senator has made significant contributions in the areas of community and human development through his various impactful projects and programmes spread across the three federal constituencies of Kogi west senatorial districts.

The three federal constituencies include: Yagba, Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu and Lokoja/Kotokarfe Federal Constituencies.

Senator Sunday Steve Karimi’s legislative and oversight accomplishments are in the several Bills and Motions sponsored by him that are having direct positive impact on Nigerians.

It ranges from areas of Education, Security, Agricultural, Youths and Women Empowerment, Rural Development to mention but a few, which has continually endeared him to his constituents and beyond.
