Governor Ahmed Ododo has used the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration to reassure residents of Kogi State of sustained efforts to tackle insecurity while urging citizens to remain united as political activities gather momentum.

Speaking shortly after observing Eid prayers in Lokoja on Friday, the governor said the end of Ramadan offers an opportunity for reflection on values such as love, sacrifice, and self-discipline, stressing the need for citizens to sustain those virtues beyond the fasting period.

Ododo expressed gratitude to God for preserving lives before and during Ramadan, calling on Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, progress, and effective leadership across the country.

Focusing on national unity, the governor urged citizens to keep faith in Nigeria’s future and support government policies aimed at economic recovery and stability.

He specifically called for backing of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that current reforms are already producing positive outcomes.

On security, Ododo acknowledged ongoing challenges in parts of the country, particularly in the North-East, but maintained that the federal government is making significant strides in combating terrorism and other threats.

He assured Kogi residents that his administration remains resolute in safeguarding lives and property, declaring that the state will not negotiate with bandits or terrorists under any circumstances.

The governor also appealed to traditional rulers to support security agencies with credible intelligence, while commending security operatives for their role in maintaining relative peace in the state.

Turning to politics, Ododo cautioned against premature politicking, emphasizing that his administration remains focused on delivering on its campaign promises.

He, however, encouraged aspirants in the forthcoming elections to engage with the grassroots and earn the mandate of the people.

He added that Kogi residents are discerning and will ultimately choose leaders capable of delivering the dividends of democracy.
