Failure of Nigerian Golden Eaglet to qualified for the under 17 World cup, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF has sacked Coach Nduka Ugbade and his team of technical assistants.
The team’s ouster from the U-17 AFCON holding in Algeria and failure of the team to pick one of the tickets to the World Cup in Peru was a great setback for the development of football in Nigeria.
The team ended their run at the tournament losing to junior Stallions of Burkina Faso in the quarterfinals thus failing to advance to the semifinals which also doubles as qualification for the world Cup.
Since the ouster some analyst have blamed it on poor developmental program in the country and has charged NFF President Ibrahim Gusau to shift attention to young stars development noting that all attentions have always ended with the Super Eagles which some have dubbed oil sector of the football industry in the country.
The Eaglets were eyeing their 13th qualification to the global showpiece and sixth title having won in five previous editions in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013 and 2015.
Nigeria also ended up as runners up on three occasions 1987, 2001 and 2009.
There are indications however that Ugbade and his technical crew will take their sacking in good fate as their stay on the job we understand was tied to performance.
