The Management Team of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH), Osara on Thursday, hosted members of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA) at the office of the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Salawu Sadiku.

Other Management Team members of CUSTECH, Osara who joined in welcoming the NIA members were: Ms. Olufunke Hudson, Registrar, Mr. John Alaji, Bursar and Mr. Jeremiah Salifu, University Librarian. The Director, Physical Planning and Development, Bldr. Ismail Adoke who gave the opening prayer and the Director, Works and Maintenance, Arch. Usman M. Ahmed were also in attendance.

According to Balogun Omeiza David, Head, Public Relations Unit, CUSTECH, Osara said the leader of the NIA Team, Arc. Justice Akwuh, FNIA said the team paid the courtesy visit to CUSTECH, Osara to congratulate the Vice Chancellor and his Management Team for a job well done in nurturing CUSTECH, Osara to this point that more courses are been added to the many programmes already on ground.

He described Engr. Prof. Salawu Sadiku as, “a man whose hands are always open at the shortest notice to receive people warmly.” He added that it was good for the NIA, Kogi State Chapter to also thank the Management of CUSTECH, Osara for starting Environmental Sciences, a Faculty housing Architecture as a programme.

He further stated that the NIA will be ready to render any possible assistance to CUSTECH, Osara now that Architecture as a course is starting afresh and promised that they will make available all their professionals in the body of NIA to see that Architecture starts smoothly at CUSTECH, Osara.

Responding to the visiting team of the NIA, Engr. Prof. Salawu Sadiku, Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, Osara appreciated them for paying a courtesy visit to the institution, saying that the work of the Architects and that of the Engineers are interwoven and it is one major reason why the university thought it wise that Architecture as a discipline be introduced now the Engineering Faculty is already having the first set in 200 level.

He added that Architecture was part of the programmes listed before the National Universities Commission (NUC) during the Resource Verification Exercise and approval was given to CUSTECH to run it amongst other existing programmes.

The Vice Chancellor added that the Management Team of CUSTECH, Osara will not hesitate to seek for the professionalism of the NIA for Architecture to thrive as expected at CUSTECH, Osara.

The visiting Team of the NIA included: Arc. Justice Akwuh, FNIA, Arc. John O. Attah, Arc. Dr. Muhammed Adamu, Arc. Isah Obenege Suleiman, Jonathan Bulus Ma’aji, Idenyi Monday Usman, Emmanuel Abu, Arc. Idoko O. Felix, Arc. OlumolanBukola Grace, Aliu O. Charles, Sule Omede, Arc. Mrs. Justice Akwuh and Arc. Bode Thomas Bamgbaiye.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Director, Works and Maintenance, Arc. Usman M. Ahmed. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and the Management Team for making out time out of no time to host the NIA in his office and also for promising to seek for their assistance when the need arises.

He appreciated his colleagues in the NIA for coming to CUSTECH, Osara for this all important visit which he said will further improve the image of the NIA in Kogi State.
