Chachavivi organises sensitization on gender based violence for three communities in kogi state

A Non Governmental Organisation, Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation has organised Media Advisory for community sensitization on gender based violence across three communities in Kogi State.

The local government areas are Adavi, Kogi and Igalamela local government areas of the state.

The sensitization and awareness was led by the Chief Exexcutive Officer of Chachavivi women and girl child Development foundation, Ms Halima Oiza Sadiq and supported by her team members across the three communities in Adavi, Igalamela and Kogi Local Government areas.

According to her it was aimed to end gender based violence in the state.

She disclosed further that the launched of the Ending Gender Based Violence Project in Kogi State by Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation in partnership with National Women Trust Fund funded by Ford Foundation, with Adavi, Kogi and Igalamela local government areas of Kogi state was based as implementing site.

She said activities has been going on across the three senatorial district in Kogi state.

She also said that a sensitization on Gender based violence was implemented in Ofuloko community, Koton Karfe and Osara gada aku respectively on the 3rd, 6th and 7th of February 2023 targeted at community members and leaders to be informed on GBV prevention and response.

“Messages were centered on Basic in Gender based violence, dangers, impact on survivals, perpetrators and community and mitigation action to end it.

“The sensitization as part of the project activities would create an opportunity to build community awareness on dangers of Gender based Violence as Gender and make conscious effort to mitigate them.

“The awareness also created opportunity to stimulate community consciousness to gender based violence related issues.

“It is expected that community members through the sensitization would use the knowledge gained in their respective communities to end Gender based violence.
