The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sen. Sunday Karimi, has raised alarms over mass kidnappings and killings across the region.

The Senator who described the security situation as dire and requiring immediate government intervention, urged the security forces, under the leadership of the new Minister of Defense, Gen. Christopher Musa, to focus operations on the affected areas and neutralize the bandit threat.

Sen. Karimi expressed deep concern over reports that worshipers were killed and abducted at an ECWA Church in Aiyetoro-Kiri community, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025.

According to the senator, many residents fled the community when bandits reportedly returned to seize control of the area.

He also noted that similar attacks took place in Oke-Agi and Ilai communities in Mopamuro Local Government Area, where residents of local Tiv communities were kidnapped and killed in coordinated assaults.

Highlighting the escalating insecurity across Kogi West, Sen. Karimi called on the federal and state governments, as well as security agencies, to take immediate and decisive action to protect lives and restore peace.

The senator specifically urged the security forces, under the leadership of the new Minister of Defense, Gen. Christopher Musa, to focus operations on the affected areas and neutralize the bandit threat.

Sen. Karimi also recalled the abduction of worshipers at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Yagba East two weeks ago, noting that the victims remain in captivity.
“The worsening security situation in Kogi West cannot be ignored. Communities are living in fear, and decisive action is needed to rescue the abducted and prevent further attacks,” he stated.

The senator’s appeal underscores the urgent need for coordinated interventions, combining robust security operations with community engagement to tackle the growing menace of banditry.

With multiple communities under siege, Kogi West residents are facing a humanitarian and security crisis, highlighting the pressing demand for enhanced protection measures and rapid government response.
