Social activist and critic, Adamu Garba has expressed disappointment that the President did not attend the burial of the late Chief of Army State, General Attahiru who died in a plane crash on Friday.
The late Army Chief died with 9 others in the aircraft
In a post on his Twitter page, Adamu Garba expressed disappointment that some Northern Governors were in a wedding ceremony involving the Attorney General’s son, instead of the funeral. He described it as a tragedy
He also said the fact the President was not there to pay his last respect to General Attahiru is embarrassing.
He said that the absence of the Governors and the President at the funeral of the late Army Chief could discourage officers in the lower cadre of the armed forces
He expressed worry that this could send a wrong signal to men of the military who are in the field, battling insurgency and keeping the country safe
Adamu said that General Attahiru worked tirelessly to restore peace and ensure security of lives in the states of some of the Governors that attended the wedding.
He said that the Governors owe him last respect, by being present at his funeral
