The Clerk to the National Assembly CNA, Architect Amos Olatunde Ojo has been advised to avoid the mistakes of former clerk,Sani Ataba Omolori who instituted divide and rule into the National Assembly to detriment of his career.
The Assembly Watch in a statement issued on behalf of body commended the commitment of the CNA and NASC Chairman to the welfare of it’s workers, by beginning the payment of arears as promised.
Nzekwe Gideon says the selected payment of the former CNA to legislative aides from June -Dec 2019 was completely wrong and against the lay down procedures.
Having make a mark and willingness to address the anomaly left behind by Omolori in the few months of assumption of NASC Chairman and CNA and his team,it will be counter productive to adopt same system that brought about this agitation.
‘We are not unaware that Sani Ataba Omolori selectively paid some legislative aides last year and announced that Duty Allowances is a privilege and not a right,but the new leadership,says it was an abberation’ He says.
‘Any attempt to gurgitate and regurgitate by the new CNA and NASC will affect the rising profile and style of administration lauded by all and sundry’ Nzekwe maintained.
He Commends the commitment of NASC Chairman and CNA to the resolution of statutory entitlements of legislative aides and appeal to them for amicable resolution .
He says the issue of arears of legislative aides is an overflogged issue,that is affecting the productivity of the staffs in that category,saying it will be good to start the new year on a clean slate.
The group believes that the Management of the National Assembly should be taken by their words,saying actors should play the game according the rules.
