The Oyo state Police Command has confirmed an overnight attack on Igangan community in Ibarapa area of Oyo state by unknown assailants Confirming the incident, Police PRO, Wale Osifeso says” On Saturday at about 2310hrs, a yet to be ascertained number of unknown assailants invaded Igangan town with dangerous weapons in a bid to create unrest in the town.
The unscrupulous elements were however repelled by a combination of Police Operational and tactical assets along with local hunters and vigillantes.
The situation is being closely monitored and comprehensive investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators”
There are reports that people were killed, houses and vehicles were razed during the attack .
The Police say they do not have accurate figure of fatalities yet but will revert after an on the spot assessment of the scene.
