THE Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Governorship Candidate ahead of the November 16 elections in Kogi State, Engr. Musa Wada and his running mate, Samuel Bamidele Aro has shunned the Obaro of Kabba as the campaign council deliberately refused to pay the usual homage to the traditional rulers in Kabba.
According to our source, the PDP handlers contacted the Obaro’s palace to book appointment for its candidate to receive royal blessings as they stepped into the soil of Okunland on Thursday.
The Monarchs who had gathered in their numbers waiting for the august visitor at the palace of the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi but were surprised to receive another contrary message from the PDP Chairman in Kabba/ Bunu Local Government chapter, Hon Johnson Abejinrin who earlier booked the appointment to inform the palace that the campaign council will no longer visit the palace as scheduled.
According to the party chairman, the campaign council of the PDP would not be able to visit the palace as scheduled due to some issues not disclosed which is not unconnected to the headiness of their Senatorial candidate who have continued to show disrespect to the traditional institutions in Okunland even when he held sway at the National Assembly.
Many of the traditional rulers and chiefs at the palace were highly disappointed even those who may have sympathy for the party, stressing that the PDP candidates has shown not to be a worthy leader who should led the state at this time.
Some of the Chiefs who spoke to our reporter confirmed that the PDP and its candidate don’t have respect for the culture and traditional of Okun people, noting that whatever might be the issues, they should be able to live above board and give due respect and regard for the traditional institutions.
They noted that the PDP has no excuse not to pay homage to the Obaro of Kabba, being the monarch of their Campaign Director General, Hon TJ Yusuf, aside the fact that he paid similar homage to the Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty, Michael Ameh Oboni II, when their campaign council were in Idah few days ago.
While some of the political pundits said the singular action of the PDP not to pay homage to the Traditional Rulers in Kogi West may spell doom for their party in the forthcoming Governorship and Senatorial Elections.
