The immediate past Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole has condemned the recent wave of kidnappings and killings in Bunu District, saying the attacks are “assaults on our humanity”
In a statement, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Mathew Kolawole expressed outrage over incidents in Aiyetoro-Kiri, Taki-Ihale Road, and Olle, where gunmen abducted worshippers and travelers, killing some.
Prince Kolawole who commended the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo for making sure the state is safe from kidnappers and bandits noted that all hands must be on deck to arrest the situation.
“No worshippers or travelers are safe,” Kolawole said, urging greater vigilance from security agencies.
He commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo for making it possible to curb the activities of bandits in the state.
He noted that the recent recovered massive cache of arms and ammunition from criminal hideouts following a decisive joint security operation carried out in the state was a testimony that the governor is doing his best.
His words, “Items recovered in the operation include 24 AK-47 rifles, 23 pump-action rifles, one Tavor rifle, one FN rifle, four Barrett pistols, four Browning rifles, 42 magazines, 520 rounds of GPMG 7.62 ammunition, as well as large quantities of AK-47 ammunition and cartridges for pump-action and Barrett pistols.
“We thank God that the governor took a major and massive steep, because if such weapons had gotten into the hands of the bandits it would have been a different thing” he said.
