The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has inaugurated newly approved members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah.
The induction and inauguration were conducted by Mr. Manniru Muhammad of the ICPC.
The new appointees who were inducted and Inuagurated by Mr. Manniru Muhammad of the ICPC also received the official endorsement of the Rector, Dr. Y. B. Usman, following the completion of the three-year tenure of the previous unit.
The Inaugurated ACTU Members are, Dr. Paul O. Haruna (SOGAS), Chairman; Engr. Alice Alao (Foundry), Member; Mrs. Mary T. Ochijenu (Procurement), Member; Mr. Ayodeji O. Ogungboye (Audit Unit/Bursary), Member and Mr. Oseni Alhassan (Bursary), Member.
Others are, Mr. Richard O. Igbeboh (EDC), Member, Mrs. Joy O. Samuel (Registry), Member and Mrs. Blessing Okolo (Exams and Records) to serve as Secretary.
Speaking in a message to occasion, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, commended the Rector, Management, and Staff of the Polytechnic for their cooperation in ensuring the successful constitution of the new ACTU.
The ICPC Chairman, who was represented by Mr. Zayyana Almu Danmusa from Lokoja office of the Commission, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Polytechnic for the benefit of the public service and the nation.
He explained that ACTU, established in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and approved by the Federal Executive Council in 2001, is a government-recognized mechanism for promoting accountability and transparency across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
According to him, the ACTU is designed to support institutional management in sustaining a corruption-free work environment, adding: “Management should not see the ACTU as an enemy, but as an ally whose activities will benefit the institution. Support and empower the Unit to discharge its functions efficiently.”
In his remarks, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Dr. Y. B. Usman, congratulated the newly inaugurated members for being found worthy of the responsibility.
Dr. Usman urged them to uphold the highest ethical standards, serve as role models, and justify the confidence reposed in them.
He further advised them to avoid any conduct that could undermine the integrity of the Unit and to work collectively to strengthen discipline and accountability within the institution.
The Management, Staff, and the entire Polytechnic community congratulated the new ACTU members and wished them a successful tenure.
The event was attended by members of the Top Management Committee (TMC), Deans of Schools, and representatives of the ICPC including Mr. Manniru Muhammad and Mr. Dauda Iliya, among others.
