The funeral rites of the late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsanni Ododo, the father of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, took place on Tuesday at his home town Okene as thousands of sympathizers witnessed the burial
The funeral drew a significant crowd of mourners from across Kogi State and beyond, reflecting the respect and honor commanded by the late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsanni Ododo.
The burial was observed in strict accordance with Islamic tradition, drawing a large congregation of mourners, scholars, and dignitaries who gathered to pay their final respects.
The body of the late Alhaji Ododo was washed and shrouded according to Islamic injunctions before being conveyed for the Janazah prayer, which was solemnly led by the Chief Imam of Ebira land,Sheikh Salihu Abere.
In his brief remarks after the prayer, the Chief Imam reminded the congregation of the ephemeral nature of life and urged Muslims to live in constant remembrance of Allah.
The prayer was attended by a wide array of Islamic clerics, respected scholars, community elders, and political dignitaries, signifying the deceased’s deep ties with both the religious and social fabric of the community.
The Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, was in attendance at the Janazah prayer to pray for his beloved father, standing alongside scholars, family members, and thousands of sympathizers in solemn supplication.
Other notable people present include Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tijani Muhammed Anaje, was also present to pay his last respects, further underlining the significance of the moment and the honor accorded to the late patriarch.
He was joined by other Islamic clerics, who offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased and sought Almighty Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and Aljanah Firdaus for him.
He prayed that Allah forgives the shortcomings of the deceased and grants him eternal rest in Al-Jannah al-Firdaus.
Also some members of the state’s traditional council, governor Ododo, former governor Yahaya Bello and top government functionaries among others who joined in paying their last respects.
The late Alhaji Ahmed Momohsanni Ododo is remembered for his contributions to society, his devotion to Islam, and his enduring role as a community pillar. His passing leaves a void, but his memory will continue to inspire acts of service and faith among those he touched in his lifetime.
Meanwhile,the Special Adviser on Media to the governor , Ismaila Isah, has commiserated with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, over the death of his beloved father.
In a statement he signed on Tuesday in Lokoja, Isah described the deceased as a man whose life embodied humility, piety and dedication to the wellbeing of others.
He noted that his wisdom and quiet strength shaped generations and found full expression in the leadership qualities of his son, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“Though his passing leaves a deep void, we draw comfort from the rich, devoted and honourable life he lived and the enduring values he instilled in his family and community,” the governor’s aide said.
Isah prayed that Almighty Allah showers the deceased with mercy, overlooks his shortcomings, and grants him a place in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
He also prayed for the Governor and his entire family to find strength, peace, and courage at this difficult time.
