Senator Karimi Rice Palliative from Kogi West has failed to address the needs of the people in terms of youth empowerment schemes and job creation.

In contrast, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central has made significant strides in empowering youths and women through various interventions. Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho from Kogi East has also implemented economic empowerment programs.

Unfortunately, Senator Karimi has not taken similar steps to boost the economic strength of the people in Kogi West. Instead, he has focused on distributing palliative rice to a select few during festive seasons, neglecting their overall well-being, education, and health needs. This approach perpetuates poverty rather than addressing the root causes of economic challenges.

Senator Karimi’s leadership style promotes dependency on handouts rather than sustainable economic growth. His self-centered approach prioritizes his own interests and those of his allies, leaving the majority of the people in poverty.

It is time for Senator Karimi to prioritize meaningful economic empowerment programs that will uplift the people of Kogi West and break the cycle of poverty.

If not, how can we best explain the rationale behind the sporadic distribution of rice and a few food items without any conscious and corresponding efforts to empower our people economically and make them self-reliant?

We challenge Senator Sunday Karimi to demonstrate to the world the number of people from Kogi West for whom he has secured employment and federal jobs for ?during his time as Senator from 2023 to the present. We also challenge him to provide media evidence of any empowerment schemes he has implemented since his election.

Apart from distributing rice and the military forward base he constructed, which many believe was done out of personal and ally security concerns and as a political decoy for intimidation when necessary, there is little else to show for the representation of Yagba Federal Constituency by a serving Senator after years of struggle and advocacy.

Senator Karimi’s mandate appears to be a squandering of political power for the people of Yagba Federal Constituency, as he seems more focused on his own political future rather than on building tangible structures or developing human capital for the people of Kogi West.

Karimi has neglected to prioritize the economic well-being of the people of Kogi West. Instead, he has been distributing palliative food items as if the people are beggars and destitute. He has failed to engage them, particularly the youth, in meaningful employment opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.
