The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)Kwara Area Command says it has generated the sum of Three billion Five Hundred and Sixty Six million,Nine hundred and Ninety Seven Thousand Five Hundred and Eighty Seven Naira ,Twelve Kobo (N3,566,997,587.12)as revenue between January and March this year.

The state Area Comptroller of Customs ,Kehinde Ilesanmi made the disclosure while briefing Newsmen on the activities of the command in Ilorin.

He said the command has also recorded twenty three seizures of different items with a duty paid value of thirty four million ,seven hundred and Ninety Seven Thousand and twenty naira.(N34,797,020) million naira within the same period

Comptroller Ilesanmi said the successes were recorded through the use of concept of policing the land boarders and area of responsibilities in line with international best practices.

He explained that some of the prohibited items seized include ,451 bags of foreign parboiled rice,23 bales of second hand clothes and 873 kegs of petroleum of 25 liters each which is about 21, 825 liters of PMS.

Other items seized are six units of used vehicles ,and one motorcycle used in conveying petroleum.

Comptroller Ilesanmi noted that in line with the extant laws and Standard Operational Procedure (SOP), most of the inflammable products have been auctioned to the members of the public, adding that the amount generated as fees has been remitted into the government coffers.

The Area Controller warned smugglers to keep away from the length and breadth of the state .

He assured the determination of the command to remains unrelenting in it effort to continue to foil, frustrate and deplete the activities of by economy saboteurs.
