The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has acknowledged the growing tensions in the party’s gubernatorial primaries as he assured the aspirants that he would ensure fairness in the coming primary election.

The APC governorship primaries is expected to hold on the 14th of this month to elect the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming November governorship election.

In a meeting held on Saturday with Kogi APC gubernatorial aspirants, and other stakeholders in the party, Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that the governor promised fair play in Kogi APC gubernatorial primaries.

He advised all aspirants to warn their followers and supporters on their actions and comments, stressing that there are modes of primaries, namely direct, indirect, and consensus.

Governor Bello stated that he would start consulting all the candidates from today, and the party would speak.

He warned those going to court to desist and urged all those in attendance to be products of the system and not mess with the system when the choice is made.

In the meeting the governor also stated that he has a good relationship with the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and hence, there are enough positions to go around—whoever wins will carry others along.

With these statements, the governor has shown his commitment to ensuring a free and fair primary election, and it is hoped that all aspirants and their supporters will comply with the directives to make the process peaceful and transparent.
