Even if the party ends at the semi-final stage of the World Cup for Morocco, the Atlas Lions have already hit the biggest football prize money any African team ever dreamt of.

Their worst classification at the Qatar 2022 will be the losing of the third-place match which will rank the team as the fourth.

The prize money for the fourh place is $25 million. In Nigerian currency, this is N11,111,750,000.

Morocco reaching the semifinals in Qatar has seen the team earn more than the 2006 World Cup winner, Italy received.

Never in football history has any African team hit such a cash prize. Even then, that is the minimum that Morocco’s good run so far has fetched them.

They can even dream bigger and the purse can be bigger.

Should they overcome France on Wednesday, they can be in the frame to win the biggest prize in football, a $42 million jackpot. Should they lose the final, Morocco will get $30 million.

In the event they lose to France in the semi-finals and win the third place duel, Morocco will win $27 million.

2022 Finish Prize money (USD)
Group stage $9m
Round of 16 $13m
Quarterfinals $17m
Fourth place $25m
Third place $27m
Runner-up $30m
Winner $42m
