Federal Polytechnic Idah is gearing up to host the 23rd edition of the Nigeria Polytechnics Games Association (NIPOGA), with the institution’s Alumni Association pledging full support toward the successful staging of the sporting event and the forthcoming 26th Convocation Ceremony.

The commitment was made during a familiarisation visit by the newly elected National Executive Committee of the Alumni Association to the Polytechnic’s 13th Governing Council at its 108th meeting held on June 11, 2026, at the Council Chamber.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, former National Auditor of the Association, Mr. Ukwenya E. Christian, said the visit was aimed at introducing the new executives and expressing appreciation to the Governing Council and Management for their leadership and support.

He commended the Council for its role in resolving challenges within the Association and praised the Polytechnic Management for executing several developmental projects across the institution.

Responding, the Rector, Dr. Y. B. Usman, announced that the Polytechnic’s 26th Convocation Ceremony would hold in November 2026. He also disclosed that Federal Polytechnic Idah had been selected to host the 23rd edition of NIPOGA.

Dr. Usman called on the Alumni Association to actively support preparations for the games, expressing optimism that the institution would deliver one of the most successful editions of the competition in the history of NIPOGA.

Chairman of the Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Adetope Ademiluyi, congratulated the newly elected alumni executives and urged them to remain united and committed to working closely with the Management to advance the growth and development of the Polytechnic.

In his remarks, the National President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Ikani Friday O., assured the Governing Council and Management of the Association’s readiness to collaborate in promoting the institution. He pledged the active participation of alumni members in ensuring the success of both the NIPOGA games and other institutional programmes.

He further reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at advancing the goals and aspirations of Federal Polytechnic Idah.

Several members of the Governing Council, including Dr. Innocent Otache and Engr. Olabode Moses, also congratulated the new executives on their election. They urged them to embrace peace, unity and teamwork, noting that such values would foster meaningful development and a successful tenure for the new leadership.
