The President Bafa foundation Bayo Adobanyi Averehi has raised concern over the deplorable conditions of people living in Kogi State.
Averehi disclosed this during a press conference held in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The Bafa foundation president who is perturbed by this development told journalist that, his foundation since 2017 has been providing succor and support to the downtrodden in Kogi.
According to him, the living conditions of the people calls for concern as many are living below poverty level.
“Despite our effort to curtail this in Kogi State, things appears to be getting worse. As I speak to you, many people in Kogi State could hardly afford two square meals a day. There is poverty everywhere. When my foundation visited some areas in the East, West and Central part of Kogi State, I feel like crying.
”Businesses are closing down, investors are running away. We need to do something urgently before things get out of hand.
“People are suffering. For how long are we going to continue like this? Bafa foundation can only empower some people and not the entire people in Kogi state.
“We are calling on public spirited individuals, politician, and philanthropist to come let join hands together towards alleviating the sufferings of our people”
Averehi who is a Philanthropist from Okene, however narrated how is foundation has touched many less privilege in the society.
“Bafa foundation was established with the sole aim of providing humanitarian support for the less privileged, capital support to petty business owners, interest free loan for entrepreneur, medical intervention for critical cases and Scholarships.
“Among those who have benefited from Bafa programs are Artisans, traders, hairdressers, laundry operators, Barbers, Tailors, and road side mechanics.
“The foundation has consistently provided social welfare intervention to assist poor masses, build a society that is free of starvation and frustration and to be a trailblazer in the collective agenda to banish hunger and poverty out of Africa.
“We have never relented in supporting the sick that could not pay their hospital bills, assist people living with HIVs, and also donate food stuff to orphanage and prison.
“Bafa foundation which has its head office in Lokoja, and other branches in Okene, Kabba, Idah, Ayingba, Ankpa amongst others recently doll out millions of naira to enable entrepreneurs and business owners flourish in their respective line of business.
“In less two years of our existence, Bafa foundation has substantially and appreciably reached out to unimaginable number of market women, youths and artisans which has made the program outstanding and the foundation speedily growing” he stated.
