A socio-political group has warned the national leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) saying Governor Yahaya Bello is an impending danger if allowed to be the party flag bearer during the 2019 Kogi gubernatorial election.

The group, Progressive Youth Alliance (PYA) which gave the warning on Monday during a press conference in Lokoja, however endorsed the Director General Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Barrister Babatunde Irukera as the best candidate for the Kogi State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The spokesperson of the group, Mr. Amos Alfa while addressing newsmen stated that Bello’s administration will go down in the history of Kogi State as the most atrocious given its backlogs of debts, accrued pension, refusal to pay workers salary, absence of probity in the management of resources, and deficient public service management.

“The present administration does not represent the yearning of the good people of Kogi State therefore, this negates the party principle and what the part stands for.

” It is instructive to note that he is daily depleting the goodwill of the party even beyond the borders of Kogi State.

“Contrary to public opinion that Governor Yahaya Bello set the stage for President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory during the 2019 Presidential election. It was a lie peddled to undermine the effort of committed members of the party at the state and local government level. It was the collective efforts of people who believed in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari that worked assiduously to ensure the victory of the party in Kogi State,” he stated.

The spokesperson therefore declared that under the umbrella of Progressive Youth Alliance which is an amalgamation of various support groups across the state, have spoken in one accord and collectively resolve through this call to action to the Director General Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Barrister Babatunde Irukera to toss his hat in the ring by contesting for the exalted position of the governor of Kogi State.

According to him, Irukera is a bridge-builder, a consensus builder, and committed to the visions and principles of the APC stressing that he is tested, proven, qualified and most suitable for the task of being the party candidate in the forthcoming election.

“We want to use this medium to implore him to rise to the yearning of people by making the bold step of vying for the party ticket. We are not saying that it must be Babatunde but we are confident that of all the people so far evaluated, we are confidence that he ticks the right points,” he said.
