The gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Prince Mustapha Mona Audu has Promised to Liberate Kogites from Poverty and Injustices if elected as governor of the state.
Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, son of the former governor of Kogi State, late Prince Abubakar Audu made the promised when he kick started his campaign for the Lugard House which was witnessed by thousands of his supporters and party faithful who participated in a memorable “Walk for Freedom” to signify liberation of the people of the state.
According to him, he promised to work towards the emancipation of the Confluence State from poverty, other economic deprivations and social injustices.
”Incidentally June 16 is a significant day in Africa’s liberation struggles, as it was on this day in 1976 that there was uprising of Soweto students against the then white minority government in South Africa a development that marked watershed in the liberation struggle of South Africa.”
“Those in power today did not have the vision of my father for an economical prosperous and welfare Kogi state.
“It pains me that this great state highly endowed continues to degenerate on all fronts, the state that provided Nigeria its first capital, the state that is so blessed by God has never witnessed poverty and suffering of its people on unprecedented scale being encountered by our people today.
“It pains me that civil servants continue to die helplessly as a result of mismanagement of our commonwealth . At the end of every darkness there must be light at the end of the tunnel.
“Today is our freedom day. My administration will stand for freedom. By the grace of God Almighty I will make this state great again.”
Prince Mona Audu promised to make the welfare of the youths and that of women his priority, saying he will enunciate programmes and policies that will create jobs for the teeming youths and women in the state if he gets the mandate of his people.
On women in particular, he promised to reserve 50 percent of his cabinet and other key appointments to them.
