Kogi NBA Condemns Gov. Bello For Walking Chief Judge Out of Function.

The forum of four branches of Nigeria Bar Association in Kogi state has condemned in strong term the action of the state government in walking out of the state Chief Judge Justice Nasiru Ajanah from a function by the Chief Security Officer to the state governor during the swearing in ceremony of the new Grand Kadi of Kogi state.

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the meeting of the elders and branch executives of the four branches of the NBA signed by A.S Akpala and Chief J.O Ajewole of Lokoja branch and three other branches namely Idah , Kabba and Okene which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday.

The forum who pointed out that the swearing in of the Grand Kadi of the state is a function which the Chief Judge of the state was expected to attend and play a constitutional role for the benefit of the country’s democracy , the association stressed that the rule of Law should be allowed to reign supreme in the state irrespective of whatever disagreement that exist between the executive and Judicial arms of government for the growth and development of the state.

“The bar is saddened by the current state of affairs on the lingering crisis between the Executive and Judicial arms of government in the state. The bar is very worried with the level at which the current disagreement has degenerated to.

“The Judiciary is the last hope of the common man and the only institution that restores the confidence of the populace on government activities even under military regime, hence its operations must not be unduly interfered with and be allowed in accordance with the law” the communique stated.

The forum called on the two parties to urgently resolve whatever difference that exist between them to enable the courts commence full legal business , appealing that the suffering judicial staff be paid their salaries in the overall interest and progress of the state.
