The presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Ibrahim Bello Dauda has said that if given the opportunity to be Nigeria’s president he would restore the hope of the average Nigerian through policies that are people sensitive.
Dauda said he would focus on policies that support and stimulate small and medium scale businesses so that the average Nigerian can enter into businesses with fear and with the guarantees and backing of governmental facilities and institutions.
He made this known while speaking to newsmen on Friday on the state of the nation and his hope for the future.
Dauda who is a former coordinator of the Buhari Support Organization (BSO), said his professional background and years of experience in practical politics has given him exceptional insight into the problems of Nigeria and the travails of the common man.
He said,” I known what the common man is going through. I here the wailing here and there. Prices are going up and the people are crushing. This middle men are making undue profit and the burden is being forced on the people.
“As a Nigerian coming up from an averge background I know and feels these things. We cannot just measure our prosperity by GDP index alone but by the number of people who escape poverty, and that is only possible if we are sensitive to the people we are serving and evolve innovate policies that can affect and adress the needs of the poor man, particularly those are want to be in business or are struggling in business.
“We would do much to integrate the informal economy into the formal economy, so that more people can have acess to governmental and other financial institutional interventions, that would further spur economic growth and lead to a positive cycle of growth and development.
Dauda also accused the state governments of not doing enough to generate financial resources that is independent of the allocations coming from the federal government.
“We will facilitate states to tap into their various economic potentials, in such areas as mineral resources, agriculture, tourism among others. This feeding bottle fedralism has not really helped us. My government will create new cross governmental platforms and partnership, that is robust and collaborative.
“Our states and even local governments need to be responsive to their local and indigenous resources and potentials and eploit them based on new models of integrations among states, among local government and between each other both on a region pattern and across the country.
