Gunmen Attack Fishing Festival in Kogi, Injure 5

Some gunmen on Saturday stormed the venue of this year Dankwo fishing festival in Lokoja, and opened fire on people.
The event which holds annually in Kogi state and organised by the Lokoja Traditional Council had barely begun on Saturday, when 3 gunmen invaded the place, while inside boats and started shooting sporadically at festival participants.
Participants scampered away for safety but five of them were hit by bullets before police were called to restore sanity.
The Kogi State Police Command spokesman, DSP William Aya, confirmed the incident, saying that the injured persons have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja for medical attention.
He also revealed that the police have launched into full investigation and criminals involved will be brought to face justice.
