Twelve cows have died mysteriously while grazing at open land of Nigeria-Korea Vocational Institute in Lokoja, Kogi State
According to an eyewitnesses account who doesn’t want his name to be mentioned disclosed that the incident happened on Thursday afternoon.
He stated that the fulani men often bring their cows to grazed in the open land of the institute.
He added that the cows were grazing in the open land when suddenly they started falling one after the other.
He said as at the time of the incident only the Fulani men were with cow and their was no other person or people around them.
He said after the incident, the herdsmen went and brought Keke NAPEP to evacuate the dead cows from the area.
However the cause of their death is unknown according to him but another eyewitnessd account told our reporter that the cows might have died as a result of poisoned from the grass.
He said maybe the grasses was spray with herbicides which resulted to their death.
When our reporter put a call to the Police Public Relation Officer of Kogi state Police Command, CSP William Ayah he confirmed the incident.
He said the cows were grazing in the open field when they started falling and the the Chief Security Officer of Kogi state Polytechnic quickly drew the attention of the police to the incident.
CSP Ayah said the Seriki of Zango was called and he came to the scene and took custody of the dead cows immediately.
