The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has said that he saw some supporters of Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, during a trip to Daura, hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari in Katsina State.
The PDP chairman spoke during the party’s presidential rally that held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, on Monday.
According to him, the PDP candidate has been able to win over people not just in Katsina but across the north-west region.
“We were in Daura, the presidents hometown… the governor of Sokoto state here can confirm to you that the north west is now fully articulated,” he said.
Secondus said by voting for Atiku, Nigerians will be assured of having a commander in chief who will not be under the control of a cabal.
He also warned against “moves by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig election,” adding that the support PDP got during its presidential rally in Kano was a testament that “Buhari’s claimed strong hold the North West has fallen”.
The PDP national chairman said Atiku’s experience of the private and public sector will help him “guide Nigeria through the path of progress and harmonious living”.
Speaking at the rally, Atiku told his supporters of plans to reactivate the Onne Seaport and finish the east-west road, if voted into power .
He said as the “author of restructuring, a vote for him and PDP will guarantee a restructured Nigeria which he believes will ensure progress, development and friendly living” among Nigerians.
Also in attendance were ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and Patience, his wife, who urged the electorate to vote for Atiku as he would “restore unity among Nigerians” unlike the “APC administration that has set the country backwards”.
The PDP presidential campaign trail is expected in the nation’s commercial capital city of Lagos on Tuesday.
