Aliyu Muktar Betara is the current Chairman House Committee on Appropriation in the House of Representatives, representing Biu/ Kwaya Kusar/Sani Bayo federal Constituency of Borno State.
Betara is a fourth time member of the green chamber, having served his people meritoriously in the last 13 years between 2007 till date under the APC.
In the last 13 years as representative of his area,alot of developmental effrots meant to bridge the social disequilibrium had been put in place.
This is ranging from provision of water, electricity,roads, empowerment, capacity building, scholarship and various infrastructural developement,to cap it all , charitable donations not only to the people of his Constituency,but Borno state in it’s entirety.
Honourable Muktar aside his Constituency projects is involved in robust political programs and alliance in Borno State in the last few years,owing to people oriented representation the the people.
Aside his current status as Chairman House Committee on Appropriation,Rt Honourable Betara has served on the Chairmanship of many committees,vice Chairman and members of various committees of the House including the adhoc ones.
He has displayed the political wisdom in the management of the green chamber in the last few years, and his efforts came to limelight during the 8th Assembly under the leadership of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives,Rt Honourable Yakubu Dogara.
At the 8th Assembly,he assisted the leadership in great measure towards taking series of decisions that moved the entire Assembly forward.
He was instrumental on series of occasions truce between the leadership and other aggrieved members, and by extension the executive arm of the government.
The Federal Lawmaker is always alive to his responsibility interms of plenary, oversight functions,budget defence and proposals, committees assignments without reservation,hence his re-election to the House for four consecutive times.
This developement was justify when he was appointed in the 9th Assembly, as Chairman House Committee on Appropriation in the House of Representatives purely on merit ,hardwork and political tolerance.
Betara’s wealth of experience,unique representation and people centred programs to his Constituency led to his award as the best perfoming Lawmaker of the year,2020 in the House of Representatives.
As a symbol of unity,progress and developement of his Constituency in Borno state, Honourable Betara has won many awards and honour for a job well done.
