It has come to our attention that certain political opportunists, unable to match the remarkable strides of the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Steve Karimi, have resorted to sponsoring malicious and faceless propaganda alleging a so-called “vote of no confidence.”

These rumours are not only false and misleading but also represent a desperate attempt to distract a performing Senator who remains focused on transforming the fortunes of Kogi West and improving the lives of his constituents.

The people of Kogi West, who gave Senator Karimi a resounding mandate, continue to enjoy the dividends of his purposeful and people-centred representation. Their confidence in him remains strong and unwavering.

It must be clearly stated that Senator Karimi is not engaged in a shouting contest with political detractors. Rather, he is committed to a transformational agenda for Kogi West—one that no amount of sponsored propaganda can derail.

Qualitative Representation and Tangible Achievements

Within less than three years in office, Senator Karimi has redefined legislative representation by prioritising sustainable development over short-term political gestures.

His impressive record of service speaks for itself.

Infrastructure and Rural Development
Senator Karimi has invested over ₦3 billion in development projects across the seven Local Government Areas of Kogi West. These interventions include:

Construction of 90 solar-powered boreholes to improve access to clean water.

Rehabilitation of 80 previously moribund water schemes, restoring potable water to thousands of households.

Provision of 500KVA and 300KVA electricity transformers across the seven LGAs to address persistent power supply challenges.

These projects have significantly improved living conditions in many communities across the district.

Security Intervention
Understanding that development thrives only in a secure environment, Senator Karimi championed the construction of a fully equipped Military Forward Operating Base in Egbe.

This strategic intervention is aimed at strengthening security operations, protecting lives and property, and safeguarding the livelihoods of the people of Kogi West.

Education and Youth Support

Education remains a cornerstone of Senator Karimi’s development agenda.

He relaunched a ₦300 million Student Bursary Scheme, under which 3,000 students in public tertiary institutions received ₦100,000 each to help ease the financial burden of education.

This followed an earlier ₦100 million bursary programme in 2024, which supported 1,000 students across the district.

In addition, the Senator facilitated the construction of a ₦160 million Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, aimed at enhancing digital literacy and improving access to modern educational facilities.

Several secondary schools across the senatorial district have also benefitted from renovation and infrastructure upgrades worth billions of naira.

Economic Empowerment

Senator Karimi has also prioritised grassroots economic empowerment.

Over 2,000 women and small-scale traders have benefitted from ₦100,000 grants each, helping to strengthen small businesses and stimulate local economic activity.

Legislative Impact

At the National Assembly, Senator Karimi has demonstrated strong leadership and legislative competence.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Senate Services, he has played a key role in managing the administrative operations and welfare of the Senate.

He has also sponsored and supported critical legislation, including:

The Central Bank of Nigeria (Amendment) Bill, aimed at improving transparency and accountability.

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Amendment Bill, designed to strengthen the fight against corruption.

These legislative contributions underscore his commitment to national development and institutional reform.

Unshaken by Political Distractions

Senator Karimi remains undeterred by the noise of political detractors whose primary objective is to undermine the progress currently being recorded in Kogi West.

The people of the district understand the difference between empty rhetoric and genuine service. They continue to stand firmly behind their Senator, whose commitment to development and effective representation is evident in both policy and practice.

Supporters and constituents are therefore urged to disregard the fabricated and malicious claims of a “vote of no confidence.”

The truth remains clear:
Senator Karimi is delivering on his mandate and remains fully committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda for the benefit of Kogi West and Nigeria as a whole.

Distinguished. Determined. Delivering.

Signed,
Hon. (Prince) Tunde Akanmidu
Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy President of the Senate
National Assembly, Abuja
