Our attention has been drawn to a write up posted on social media by one Eseyin Tony where he tried to make case for the speakership position of the Kogi State House of Assembly to remain in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
It is imperative to make it clear to the public that what he posted on social media is his personal opinion and not that of Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole who believe that it is only God that gives power and hence no need causing unnecessary frictions in the assembly.
It is also good to note that the current tenure will elapse in June, so it will be premature for anyone to be agitating for position that is to be decided in June by March.
The Speaker remain more focused on how the entire members of the Sixth Assembly will round up this tenure on a good note for the overall development of the state.
Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole is aware of the fact that every member of the Assembly is a potential Speaker as they all have the right to the position.
It is also a fact that the personalities that will make up of the 7th Assembly are credible individuals that have distinguished themselves in their chosen career before coming to the Assembly.
We therefore appeal to the public to desist from making statements that will cause disharmony among the members.
Signed:
Femi Olugbemi,
Chief Press Secretary to the Honourable Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly
