The pilot, Ahmad Nassir Dirie Olow is accused of forging documents to secure admission into an aviation school.
When presented before a court of law, he denied the charges before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was released on $500 cash bail.
On Thursday, The principal of alleged former school told the court that the documents ATPU officers requested could not be traced since no records of the accused went to school in Wajir High School.
Interestingly, A pilot Lt.Col.Rtd Adan Ali who is also a director of 99 Flying schools based at Wilson airport told the court that he trained Ahmed Nassir Dirie and that he passed his exams with flying colors and qualified to fly.
Ahmad Nassir Dirie Olow is not the first Kenyan to hit the headlines for successfully running a scientific career for which he wasn’t fully qualified. In 2016, Ronald Kiprotich Melly worked as a fake doctor at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital before he was transferred to head Meteitei Sub-County hospital. He performed eight successful surgeries.
QUESTION: Should technical Jobs such as piloting and engineering be determined by theory and academic grades?
