After one month in captivity, Pharmacist Abdulazeez Obajimoh, the Managing Director of Azeco Pharmacy, in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, has regained freedom from his abductors.
It was gathered that he was released in the early hours of Saturday.
The Kogi State Chairman, Pharmaceuticals Society of Nigeria, (PSN), Dr. Lawal Mohammed confirmed the release on Saturday.
He, however, declined comment when asked if ransom was paid to secure his member release.
Recalls that the Kidnappers, who had earlier demanded N30 million ransom for them to release Obajimoh, rejected it.
Obajimoh and two of his pharmacist colleagues were kidnapped at different parts of the state by unknown gunmen earlier this month.
Although, two of his colleagues kidnapped in Kabba and another local government of the state had regained freedom before now, Obajimoh was left behind as his abductors demanded that the ransom they requested must be paid before they would release him.
It could also be recalled that a first class traditional ruler in the state, the Adogu of Egayin,in Ajaokuta Local Governnent Area of the state, Alhaji Mohammed Odembe, who was also kidnapped on Okene-Ajaokuta road about three weeks ago has also regained freedom after the alleged payment of ransom by his family members.
However, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede while confirming his release said “The Police kept making incursions into the areas he was suspected being held incommunicado. The exercise made the miscreants unable to stabilize their location until his release in the morning today. God’s intervention did the ultimate. Thank you so much.
