The new Onu-Egume, and Okura District head, HRH, Simon Ochimana over the weekend appreciated Kogi state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his magnanimity in approving his appointment as the Onu -Egume.
The Royal father Applauded the governor at his Palace, Egume on Saturday at the reception organized for him by the Egume- Ome Descendants Union, (EODU) and Stakeholders of the community after his coronation at Idah by His Royal Majesty, Ata Igala/Chairman Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa.
Chief Ochimana on behalf of Egume community thanked the governor for following the due process in making his appointment possible despite the delay that accompanied the demise of the former Onu Egume.
He called on his subjects to maintain peace and unity while rededicating their services towards the development of Egume community.
Chief Ochimana noted that no development can take place in the presence of crisis but sustenance of unity will enhance peaceful coexistence and development.
He pointed out that efforts will be intensified to bring all the Sons and Daughters of Egume together to harness their resources towards the development of the land during his reign and uplifting the standard of living of the citizenry.
The Onu – Egume therefore pledged his loyalty and support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.
In his speech, the President of Egume Ome Descendants Union (EODU), Comrade Sunday Maji hail Kogi state governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the honour and love for the people of Egume.
“On behalf of Egume Ome Descendants Union, the community and the entire people of Okura District, I extend to you our deepest gratitude for the honour you bestowed upon us, by the appointment of His Royal Highness, Simon Ochimana, Onu Egume/Okura District Head.”
The President who also commended His Royal Majesty, the Atta Igala, Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa
said his participation did not only elevated the ceremony, but also reaffirmed the timeless bond between Egume traditional stool and Ata Igala ruling dynasty.
“The wisdom, grace, and spiritual guidance you so generously imparted have left an indelible mark upon our hearts and will inspire generations to come.”
Comrade Maji therefore advised sycophants to distance themselves from the new Onu- Egume so as to enable him focus on cleansing the land for productivity and growth.
He, however, promised the Onu that Egume Ome Descendants Union as a body will give all the necessary support that could move Egume forward economically.
The triumphant entry of HRH, Chief Simon Ochimana to Egume community on a horse was enthusiastically given heroic welcome as the ceremony was like Egbe festival.
The Mammoth crowd that greeted His Royal Highness’ arrival shows the love and desire for the people of Egume to have their king.
