A newly established Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre at Titcombe College, Egbe, built by the Titcombe College Egbe Old Students Association (TCEOSA) with funding support from Senator Sunday Karimi, has officially commenced operations in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The centre, valued at N300 million, was put into use on Thursday, coinciding with the commencement of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The examination, organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is scheduled to run from April 16 to April 18.
Ahead of the exercise, no fewer than 1,000 candidates from various locations trooped into Egbe on Wednesday to sit for the examination at the new facility.
The 288-capacity digital testing centre is equipped with modern infrastructure, including a dedicated server room, CCTV surveillance system, secure perimeter fencing, improved water supply, high-speed internet connectivity, solar power installation, and 288 laptops. The project was executed through a collaboration between Senator Karimi, who represents Kogi West, and the alumni body, TCEOSA.
One of the candidates, Samuel Olugbemi from Kabba in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, described the facility as one of the best-equipped CBT centres in the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Principal of Titcombe College, Ajayi J.O., disclosed that Senator Karimi further supported the centre’s operations with the donation of 100 litres of diesel to power its generator.
“This thoughtful gesture comes at a critical moment as we prepare to host candidates for the JAMB examinations,” the principal said. “It guarantees uninterrupted power supply, boosts confidence in the credibility of the exercise, and reflects the Senator’s commitment to advancing education and supporting institutions that shape the nation’s future.”
He expressed appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed the college’s commitment to maintaining high standards in education and examination integrity.
Earlier, a retired cleric, Rev. S.O. Babawarun, dedicated the centre to God before its full-scale deployment.
He offered prayers for the success and safety of candidates, staff, and administrators, while also invoking divine blessings and protection for Senator Karimi and members of TCEOSA for their role in bringing the project to fruition.
