Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and Member Elect representing Kabba/Bunu State Constituency, has described his landslide victory at the just concluded House of Assembly Election as an act of God.
The Speaker said this during a mini Thanksgiving service held at the Christ Apostolic Church, (CAC), Aiyeteju Zonal Headquarters, Kabba.
According to him, if not for God who used prominent personalities in the constituency, it wouldn’t have been possible to be reelected for the second term.
He said, God really manifested His power before, during and after the election, noting that despite the plan of the enemies to unleash terror during the process, God took charge to make the process peaceful, fair and credible.
He said he will still have an elaborate Thanksgiving service ceremony later when he will invite dignitaries from all walks of life to join him in thanking God.
According to him, he has promised his creator to do Thanksgiving services in Seven churches in the constituency, stressing that, this is to acknowledge the favour of God in his life
He used the occasion to thank and appreciate the people of God, for their firm support during the poll, promising to continue with his programs and policy of providing qualitative representation at the state level.
He acknowledged the landmark roles played by the royal fathers, party leaders and prominent stakeholders in the constituency to ensure his victory which is the first of it kind.
He urged the people to continue to cooperate and support him and Governor Yahaya Bello in contributing to the overall development of the state.
He appealed to the people to give same overwhelming support to Governor Yahaya Bello come November when he will be seeking for his own reelection to consolidate on his monumental achievements in office.
While in his sermon, the Zonal Superintendent of Aiyeteju Zone, Pastor E.O Benjamin said it is only God that can guarantee true victory, noting that, it is a pride for the church to have the Speaker as one of its members.
He took his sermon lesson which he tagged Wisdom and faith for a man of dominion from the book of James 1 vs 2 – 26
He said it is an act of wisdom for the Speaker to return to the church to acknowledge the wonderful works of God in his life.
Pastor Benjamin said it takes the man of wisdom who have faith to have dominion in this world.
He urged Christians to always pray for wisdom from God, they should have faith in God then their dominion would be guaranteed in this world.
He prayed that God shall continue to give the Speaker the much needed wisdom, knowledge and understanding to pilot the affairs of his office to greater heights.
The church later prayed for Governor Yahaya Bello, the entire members of New Direction Team and the Speaker.
