Senator Smart Adeyemi of the Kogi West Senatorial District on Friday cried out about an alleged threat to his and that of his family’s lives.
Smart, a senatorial candidate for the All Progressives Congress, made this known in a statement on Friday that he personally signed.
He said he had been told not to run for the Kogi West Senatorial District seat in the upcoming election.
The congressman, who indicated that he had alerted the appropriate authorities, did not reveal the names of people who were threatening his life.
Adeyemi claimed that his perceived opponents wanted him to drop his reelection bid so that someone else may run in the election to fulfill a rotation agreement.
He promised his fans, however, that nothing would stop him from running and that the people’s will would prevail.
“I have been persuaded and motivated to contest this election in continuous service to my people after very thoughtful deliberations with very senior folks and my constituents who believe in me,” he added.
“As a free citizen of Nigeria, I am consequently adamant to go ahead, regardless of the repercussions.
