The staffers of Mopa Amuro LGA of Kogi State have blocked the federal highway in protest, demanding full payment of their salaries.

The workers in their hundreds shut down the council secretariat shouting and chanting slogans, ” We’re tired of percentage salaries, ” No to percentage salaries “.

As at time of press, the Council leadership and management staffers could not be reached as they were no where to be found.

The workers anger was fuelled by the new federal government policy, which made the local government councils, receive allocation directly from the revenue mobilization account committee.

The workers who would not want their names in print have however vow to continue with the protest until their demands are met.

Similarly, Some staff of Yagba West LGA of Kogi State have been asked to report to the Local Government Service Commission for their role in the recent protest for the local government to pay full months salaries.

The staffers are being intimidated following their protest for the full implementation of the federal government policy of NFIU last week.

The staff are to appear before a committee set by the Local government service commission.

In a swift reaction, the staffers Union have jointly planned to down tools if any of the staff is victimized, insisting that as workers they are worthy of their wages.

Recalled that the federal government paid directly last monthly allocation into the account of the twenty one councils, with the workers expecting full salaries.

Information available shows that following planned moves to divert the funds and pay the workers in percentages, the workers protested, leading to their invitation, with plans to subsequently sanction them.
