The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has called on the Kogi West senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Smart Adeyemi to accept the results of Saturday’s election as the wishes of the electorate.
Speaking with newsmen in Kabba on Sunday, Ologbondiyan said there are reports of plans by Governor Yahaya Bello to change the results of Saturday election in Kogi West in favour of Adeyemi and Wemi Jones.
He called on Adeyemi and Jones to show good sportsmanship by accepting the results as the wishes of the good people of Kogi West.
“I want to urge Senator Smart Adeyemi and Wemi Jones to tow the path of honour by respecting the true wishes of the people of Kogi West.
“There are valid reports that the Governor of the state is mounting pressure on INE to change the results of Kogi West senatorial and Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu House of Representatives elections. Accepting such a result will amount to debauchery and an insult on the Kogi West electorate.
“The average person in Kogi West knows the candidate he or she voted for and certainly, it is not Senator Smart Adeyemi. The elections in Kogi West were free, fair and credible. It was devoid of any rancour as the people free expressed their resolve to return Senator Dino Melaye,” he said.
Ologbondiyan called on PDP leaders and supporters across Kogi West to be vigilant and resist the planned falsification of results by APC.
