The Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association, (NVMA) Kogi State Chapter, has called for the establishment of Ministry of Livestock Development in Kogi state, similar to the one created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration at the Federal level.
The Chairman of NVMA in Kogi State, Omotugba Tolu who stated this on Wednesday while briefing newsmen in Lokoja, also called on the state Governor to consider the appointment of a credible Veterinarian as its commissioner, when the ministry is created.
His words “as key stakeholders in the livestock industry and given the significant and growing population of livestock in Kogi State, we seize this opportunity to call on His Excellency to leverage on the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.
“We advocate for the establishment of a similar Ministry in Kogi State and the appointment of a credible Veterinarian as its commissioner.
The group commended the state Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, for approving and prompt implementation of the 2021 Revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for their members within the Kogl State Civil Service.
The statement read in part said,
“Following the resolutions reached at our recently concluded executive meeting, we wish to address several inportant matters,
“First, we extend our profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogl State, Alhajl Usman Ahmed Ododo, for his approval and prompt implementation of the 2021 Revised Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for our members within the Kogl State Civil Service.
“This gesture underscores the Governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Kog State workers and his recognition of the pivotal role the Veterinary profession plays In the State’s economic prosperity.
He noted that the approval and implementation has motivated their members to carry out their duties with renewed enthusiasm and the highest level of dedication,
He called on the Governor to utilize his esteemed office to ensure the prompt payment of the accumulated arrears of two months since the salary structure’s implementation in January, 2021.
They urged Governor Ododo to continue with the exemplary work he has initiated in Kogi State, noting that the civil servants are prepare to lead his reelection campaign in 2027.
