His Royal Highness Aliyu Abdullahi Ismaila Onumoko II, the Adudi-Obombom of Esusu Okengwen Ehi in Okene LGA, Kogi State, has extended congratulations to Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of his election.
In a statement signed by Ogu Daniel on behalf of the monarch, HRH Onumoko II praised Governor Ododo’s victory as a testament to the confidence of Kogi people in his leadership. The traditional ruler commended the governor’s welfarism policy and urged its continuation.
The royal father noted the visible signs of infrastructural development in the state, citing increased presence of construction companies and workers. He also lauded Governor Ododo’s inclusive approach, particularly his gesture towards political opponents.
HRH Onumoko II pledged support for the governor’s administration and expressed confidence in Ododo’s ability to lead Kogi State to greater heights of development and prosperity.
Recall that the appeal against the election of Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi state was dismissed by the apex court for lacking in merit and substance. The dismissed appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party SDP Yakubu Ajaka failed in his bid to invalidate the November 11, 2023 governorship election of Usman Ahmed Ododo.
In a lead judgment delivered by Justice Sadiq Abubakar Umar, the apex court threw out the appeal of Ajaka after resolving all the three issues in dispute against him. The Court in the unanimous decision held that Ajaka failed to give cogent and verifiable evidence in the series of allegations against Ododo.
Besides, Justice Umar said that most of the allegations were pre-election matters which ought to have taken to the federal high court for resolution before the election.
