
The wives of the 21 Local Government Chairmen in Kogi State have commended the First Lady of the state, Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo, for her commitment to the welfare and empowerment of women, children, and vulnerable groups.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the First Lady in Lokoja ahead of the forthcoming electioneering activities in the state.
Speaking during the meeting, Hajia Sefinat Ododo expressed appreciation to the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for her dedication to improving the lives of women, families, and vulnerable citizens through various intervention programmes across the country.
She noted that initiatives under the Renewed Hope Initiative have continued to provide support and opportunities for women and families, describing Senator Tinubu as a symbol of compassionate leadership and a strong advocate for the advancement of women and children.
The meeting also served as a platform to discuss strategies for strengthening grassroots mobilization, increasing women’s participation in governance and community development, and sustaining programmes that positively impact citizens across Kogi State.
The First Lady emphasized the importance of unity, peaceful political engagement, and collective responsibility among women leaders. She urged the wives of the local government chairmen to promote peace, encourage civic participation, and support government policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
According to her, women play a vital role in nation-building and should continue to contribute to community development, democratic growth, and social harmony at the grassroots level.
Responding on behalf of the delegation, the wives of the council chairmen praised Hajia Sefinat Ododo for her impactful leadership and commitment to social inclusion and economic empowerment.
They pledged their support for programmes designed to uplift women, youths, and vulnerable groups, while reaffirming their readiness to collaborate with the Office of the First Lady to expand the reach of developmental initiatives across the state
The delegation also applauded the First Lady’s efforts in implementing community-based interventions that are improving livelihoods and strengthening families in Kogi State.
The visit highlighted the shared resolve of women leaders across the state to promote inclusive development, peaceful coexistence, and grassroots-driven initiatives that enhance the well-being of citizens.
