Ahead of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party primary scheduled to hold on August 29, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole has reaffirmed the commitment of the party delegates to once again elect the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the party’s flag bearer.

The Speaker disclosed this in Abuja while chatting with Journalists shortly after Governor Bello picked the party’s nomination and intent forms to contest in the forthcoming party primary.

He said the mammoth crowd that besieged the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja today (yesterday) in solidarity shows that the Governor is still popular and well accepted among the people of Kogi State.

According to him, Governor Yahaya Bello remain the aspirant to beat in next month’s party primary, stressing that those protesting against the indirect mode of primaries adopted by the State Executive Council of the party are not known to the party in the State.

He said all members elected on the platform of our great party, APC at both the National and State Assembly from the state are solidly behind the Governor, noting that he remains the only aspirant that will make the party proud in the November 16 governorship election.

Rt Hon Kolawole reemphasized that the purposeful leadership quality of Alhaji Yahaya Bello enabled the party to record the great success seen in the just concluded general elections wherein the party won 2 Senate, 7 House of Reps and 25 State House of Assembly seats.

He urged the National Working Committee (NWC) not to listen to those unknown stakeholders who have abandoned the party over a long period and didn’t bother to participate in any activities of the party, now coming up with different tactics to destabilize our party.

He noted that having been a product of the indirect mode of primaries, then there is no need to shift the goal post while the game is ongoing.

He said the sterling performances of the Governor will stand him out in the coming elections, pointing out that Alhaji Yahaya Bello being the first aspirant to pick his nomination and intent forms shows that he is in for a real deal to make the party proud again.

He said whoever that have not picked his or her nomination and intent forms cannot be considered a serious aspirant noting that to contest is not in printing posters alone.
