The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole has described the candidature of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the best option for Kogi State in the forthcoming Governorship Elections come November 2nd, 2019.
The Speaker disclosed this on Wednesday in Lokoja while addressing some youth groups who visited him at the assembly complex.
According to him, this will be the first time, the state will be blessed with a selfless and detribalized leader that is bold to confront issues that have been the bane of development in the state.
He said, there is no gainsaying the monumental achievements of the new direction administration led by the young and dynamic Governor, who have ruthlessly dislodged criminals and criminality in the state.
The Speaker noted that the administration has changed the narrative of governance as the youths are more empowered because they have been given them responsibilities that has positioned them not only to be the leaders of tomorrow but occupying leadership roles presently courtesy of the focused and pragmatic Governor.
He said the Governor has achieved in various sectors which includes, security, infrastructure developments like roads, education with most of the primary schools wearing new looks across the state. On health, the state integrated healthcare plus have reached over 500, 000 patients in the last three years. This is apart from repositioning the traditional institutions in the state with grading and upgrading of chieftaincy stools done in accordance with the tradition and custom of the people and the laid down rules and regulations of the government.
He said, haven cross checked critically the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello across all sectors in the state coupled with the fact that he still have the constitutional rights to contest, he urged all and sundry in the state to give him maximum support to complete his good works.
He noted that the civil service under the administration is more positioned to discharge their statutory responsibilities effectively and efficiently, stressing that the peace enjoyed in the House of Assembly was as a result of a leader that desire peace in the state.
He said the great success of the All Progressive Congress APC in the just concluded General Elections in the state where the party won 2 out of the 3 senatorial seats, 7 out of 9 House of Reps seat and 25 over 25 in the state House of Assembly was not without the concerted efforts of the Governor, pointing out that his own election would be a walkover.
He urged the people of the state to continue to have faith, give their support and cooperation to the new direction government as that is the only way to consolidate on the gains so far.
Kolawole who said he was confident that the APC will do better in Kogi West Senatorial District, stressing that efforts are ongoing to bring on board some prominent politicians from the opposition.
