The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kogi State Sector Commander, Emmanuel O. Abe on led a team of the Corps officials on a familiarisation visit to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) M.O. Kolawole.

The Sector Commander who was recently deployed to Kogi State due to the retirement of the immediate past Sector Commander, Olusegun I. Martins (rtd), expressed worry over the spate of accidents in the State which according to him is as a result of reckless driving and abuse of traffic rules.

Corps Commander Abe urged the high class in the society to always caution their drivers to avoid over speeding that may cut short their lives.

He said training and retraining of VIP drivers is key in preparing them to drive safe hence his proposed training of the drivers especially for the VIP in the state, noting that such personalities should always release their drivers to attend frequently these training workshops on traffic rules.

While responding, the Speaker appreciated the Sector Commander and his entourage for finding him worthy for the visit and salute their consistency in educating road users on how to have accident free driving on Nigeria roads.

He urged them to be active like they used to be in the past, noting that he is a leader by example as he drives alongside his drivers by always having his eyes on the speedometer to ensure it is not excessive for safety.

He said the sixth Assembly under his watch has passed into law a bill for a law to make provision for the rules and regulations of road traffic in the state which has been accented to by Governor Yahaya Bello, stressing that this is done in order to promote healthy road for its users

He pointed out that the Legislature is working with the Executive to ensure the Establishment of Kogi State Traffic Commission and it needs the support and collaboration of the FRSC.

The Speaker lauds the innovation of taking the drivers on periodic seminars and workshop as he urged the Corps Commander to speed up the implementation of the proposal for the workshop.

Abdullahi; Policy, Research and Statistics Officer Joseph A. Adieze; Motor Vehicle Administrative Officer Cecilia Ejidu; Public Enlightenment Officer Adejo A. Okpanachi; Liaison Officer Yunusa Yusuf; and Protocol to Sector Commander, Liatu A. Apega
