THE Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has been given a fourteen days notice to by the National Industrial Court, Abuja division on the non payment of salaries and allowances to Elder Simon Achuba.
The Deputy governor dragged the governor to court for non payment of salaries and allowances due the deputy governor since 2017
The notice which was served on the governor, has the state attorney general and commissioner for justice as the first and second defendant respectively, have been asked to enter into appearance, failure in default, the claimant may proceed and judgment delivered in his the defendants absence.
The human rights activist and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria ( SAN), Chief Femi Falana had earlier issued a seven-day ultimatum to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello some week back to pay the outstanding allocations due to the Deputy Governor’s office of the state, Elder Simon Achuba amounting to the total sum of Eight Hundred And Nineteen Million, Seven Hundred And Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred And Eighty Thousand Naira for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 memo approval.
Falana in a letter dated July 17, 2019, stated that the accumulated statutory allocations the state government has withheld which includes travel allowances, hotel bills, pledges and outstanding monthly imprest and salaries due to his client as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State amounted to N819, 709, 980, 00. He said, “If our client’s request is not granted within seven days of the receipt of this letter, we have our client’s instructions to seek redress in the National Industrial Court.
