Kogi Central: Ihima Women Protest Enters Day 2, Calls Gov Bello to Retrieve Guns
The protest by Ihima women against the the renewed political violence in Ebiraland by Kogi State the All Progressive Congress (APC) enterered day two, calling governor Yahaya Bello to order his appointees to retrieve guns distributed to their sons.
The protest which started on Saturday lasted for four hours, saw the aggrieved women visiting the house of political leaders in the land, warning them to return the guns they distributed to their sons to kill themselves and cause confusion in the land.
The women who alleged that OKehi local government Administrator, Abdulraheem Ohiare and Commissioner for water resources, Salami Ozigi is responsible for the political crises that has claimed the lives of not less than two people, more than thirty injured from gunshot and fifteen houses burnt in Obeiba axis of Ihima, OKehi LGA, said they will continue until the political leaders retrieve the guns distributed to their children.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Hajia Abisetu said they cannot seat anymore and watch what has been happening in the last two months to continue, adding that they will continue until Govenor Yahaya Bello orders his appointees to retrive the guns distributed to their sons to kill themselves and cause confusion in Ihima.
She said, “We took it upon ourselves to save our land, we went round Ihima yesterday and visited the houses of all the political leaders sponsoring and distribution guns to our sons, we warn them to retrieve their guns from our children for us to have peace in Ihima.
“Instead of doing the needful, OKehi local government Administrator, Abdulraheem Ohiare went and held meeting to sponsor some women from his own place in Eyika to stage another protest here in Ihima in support of his evil.
“This is why we are out again because the Administrator is not ready to change and give us peace in our own land”, she said.
Abisetu pointed out that they are the mothers of the land and it is their duty to protest their own children from the hand of desperate politicians who want to to use them as pawn for their selfish interest, adding that they will not stop until the guns they distributed to their children are retrieved from Ihima.
