—–As groups threaten to go to court.

The extension of tenure for the current Administrator team in the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State may suffer major setback as the outgoing 6th assembly who will end their tenure on June 3rd has decline in endorsing the extension which will be the fourth time since they were appointed in 2016.

According to an impeccable source the assembly members were no longer comfortable with the extension, hence they decided to withhold their approving power since the last extension expired by March ending, 2019.

Some of the members who spoke to our correspondent but don’t want their names in prints confirmed that the Administrators has over stayed since they are not democratically elected as such they should be devolve to pave way for Local Government Election in the state.

Some of the returning members who are also eyeing the leadership of the 7th assembly blame the lacuna on the speaker who use his office to overrule some of their propose plans to checkmate the excess of the Administrators via the ministry.

They said no letter has sent to the house hence the Administrators are not suppose to remain in office since their tenure has expired.

However, by the actions of the outgoing lawmakers, it is crystal clear that the Administrators are actually operating illegally since their tenure lapse in March which is against the spirit of the 1999 constitutions as amended.

They also claimed that there are so many illegality going on at local government level, stressing that up till this moment, the assembly have not received their 2019 annual budget of the local government let alone they will pass it.

Meanwhile, a group call Kogi State Ambassador for Good Governance has threaten to go to court on Monday to seek an injunction against the State Assembly, State Government and the Administrators as they are continue stay in office is illegal.

The spoke person of the group Nicholas Monday in a Press statement issued on Sunday alleged that the continuation of stay in office by the local government adminiatrators was illegal.

He noted that since the inception of the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in office he refused to conduct local government election rather he constituted illegal adminiatrators to over see the affairs of the local government council.

He therefore called on the federal government not to release June local government allocation to the state until the governor put in place legal local government’s Chairmen by conducting election.

Senator Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, and Kogi Conscience had threaten recently to sue the State Government over the illegal stay of the Council Administrators without the required approval of the State Assembly.

As the forum of Governors did not get the support of the court against the guidelines of the NFIU, Local Governments in Kogi State might risk not to be allow to access their monthly statutory monthly allocation from the federation account.

Efforts to get the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Ohere to clear the airs on some of the allegations proof abortive as he did not response to many of our calls made to his while as at the time of filing this reports.

Similarly all effort to speak with the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole proved abortive.
