Kogi State House of a Assembly has received a petition calling for the dethronement of the Olu of Oworo land, Muhammed Baiyerohi.
The petition which was written by Iwomasi ruling house of Oworo Kingdom was read at plenary by the member representing Lokoja 11 constituency, Hon Idris Ndako.
He said the call for the dethronement of the traditional ruler was to avert looming large scale crisis based his discretion of customs and tradition of Oworo Kingdom.
In a statement made available by the Director of Information, Kogi State House of Assembly, Aka Adebayo Michael, he said the traditional ruler was being accused of causing disaffection and disharmony among communities and people of Oworo Kingdom in Lokoja Local Government Area.
In his submission ,the Speaker, Rt Hon Mathew Kolawole, however committed the petition to the House Committee on petition and asked it to report back to the house in three weeks.
In another development, Kogi state House of Assembly has called on the state government to set up a joint security patrol taskforce to checkmate the rising cases of kidnapping and armed robbery across the state.
It also urged the state police command to ensure a -24 hour surveillance on the hot spots.
These were contained in a motion sponsored by the member representing Ijumu state constituency, Hon Olusola Kilani Olumo.
He said even though there was heavy presence of security personnel on the Obajana-Kabba Road,it has not stopped the activities of the men of the underworld.
Members in their contributions commended the efforts of the state government in tackling security challenges in the last four years but lamented that such efforts were being eroded with the resurgence of kidnapping and armed robbery in the state.
The Speaker in his ruling said the security problems in the state was worrisome as people could no longer sleep with their eyes closed.
He said the lawmakers would look into ways it could empower the state government to address the issue of insecurity through necessary legislation.
In the meantime ,Kogi State House of Assembly has passed into law the Nigeria-Korea friendship Institute of Vocational and Advancement Technology.
The bill sought to make Kogi State a technological innovation centre.
The passage of the bill followed a clause by clause consideration at plenary.
