The Kogi State House of Assembly in a resolution has recommended for removal of Hon. Emmanuel Olorunfemi Funsho as Permanent Member of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission based on the findings of the committee which confirmed the allegations as true.
Presenting the report of the joint committees, Chairman House Committee on Public Petition and Human Right, Hon. Musa Attacjachi said Mr. Funsho Olorunfemi could not respect the oath he took and decided to veer off his core mandate and get himself registered  as a member of a political party whereas the law that established the commission prohibits such action.
The committee also noted that the illegal participation of Mr Funsho Olorunfemi in political activities in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area and Otu Ward has resulted in chaotic situations in the area.
Most of the members spoke in support of the committee’s recommendations to relieve the SIEC member to the Governor since he lacks the integrity to hold such an exalted position.
While giving his ruling, the Speaker, Matthew Kolawole said the committee in their finding discovered that the SIEC member has committed gross misconduct noting that Section 200 (1) and (2) of the Nigerian Constitution and Section 5 (1) of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission law empowered the State House of Assembly to carry out the assignment.
He stressed that it is unimaginable for an official to be screened in the assembly and afterwards, he or she goes out  to contravene the laws.
It will also be recalled that Funsho Olorunfemi was suspended as the executive chairman of Kabba/Bunu by the legislative council of the local government for gross misconduct in 2014.
