THE Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi state, Bar. Natasha Akpoti has debunk rumour making around that she has stepdown as the party Governorship candidate saying she has not stepdown for anybody.
This was contained in a press release issued on Thursday in Lokoja by the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah.
The statement read in part, “the attention of the media office of Barr. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti, the Social Democratic Party Governorship candidate in Kogi state ahead the November governorship election, has been drawn to a malicious report trending online that the next governor of Kogi State has stepped down.
“The SDP would have ordinarily kept mute and to allow the dreamers and mischief makers to wallow in their ignorance while Barr. Natasha Akpoti coast home to victory and to occupy the exalted office of Kogi state governor.
“We therefore wish to state in clear terms that Barr. Natasha Akpoti is very much still in the race and remains the candidate to beat in the forthcoming November governorship election. She would continue to remain the fear of the APC and the beginning of wisdom.
“The rumors that is therefore making the round of the stepping down of Barr. Natasha Akpoti is a figment of the imagination of mischief makers who have been having sleepless night since the emergence of the next governor of Kogi state.
“We therefore wish to use this medium to in clear terms say that Barr. Natasha Akpoti is very much in the race as the candidate of the SDP and would certainly win in the November governorship election.
We therefore urge all the concerned members of our party and the general public to disregard the rumors and go about their lawful business without fear of intimidation.
“The SDP is resolve, resolute and sure that come November governorship, the people of Kogi state whose reason and support made her accept the call to rescue the state would overwhelmingly vote the SDP and Barr. Natasha Akpoti as Governor of Kogi state,” the statement added.
